Elementary ELA Curriculum

ELA
Lynchburg-Clay Elementary is excited to announce the adoption of new, research-based English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum for elementary grades, effective August 2025. These curricula are firmly rooted in the Science of Reading, a comprehensive body of research on how children learn to read most effectively.
The new curriculum, Amplify CKLA and SAVVAS MyView, were selected after a rigorous review process involving teachers, administrators, and literacy experts. It aligns with state standards and incorporates best practices identified through years of scientific research. Key features of each curriculum include:
  • Systematic and explicit instruction in foundational reading skills.
  • High-quality, engaging texts that build knowledge and vocabulary.
  • Opportunities for differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Comprehensive assessment tools to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
  • Robust resources and professional development for teachers.
Lynchburg-Clay Local School District is dedicated to supporting teachers in the successful implementation of the new curriculum. Professional development opportunities will be provided to ensure educators have the knowledge and resources necessary to effectively deliver Science of Reading-aligned instruction.

The district believes that this investment in a Science of Reading-based ELA curriculum will have a significant positive impact on student literacy outcomes, setting a strong foundation for their future academic endeavors.
